Stuffitis - Got To Have Stuff

How many times have we bought something, just to try and fit in with everyone else? I know I have.

Sometimes, it seems that if we don’t have the latest available version of something, we are falling behind society somehow. What really got me to thinking about this, was my last post about new cars.

So many guys that I work with are hunters and fisherman. They all have to have a newer model 4 wheel drive truck, an ATV(four wheeler), and a bass boat. You know anyone like that? I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with having those things, but why would you go into debt for this stuff……….trading your freedom and options for this stuff. It’s a serious case of “stuffitis” and trying to keep up with what your friends have.

Now this is not just about the outdoors-men among us. This is true of all types of people. In practically any and every activity known to man, there is the “professional level” gear and equipment. I really like computers and photography…..man, could I spend a boatload of money on that stuff!

I believe we have to come to a new way of thinking about stuff. We need to get to a point where we can be content with what we have, or we will NEVER get out of debt! The cool thing is, once we actually get out of debt, it will be so much easier to have the things we want.
