3 Financial Tasks We Like To Avoid

This is supposed to be a picture of a checkbook! When it comes to your money, it can’t all be fun and games. Whether you’re broke or rich, there’s always certain tasks involved with managing money that are less than desirable. You can take care of the details, or let things slide. Letting things slide, or continually putting them off will lead to bad luck. Even though it isn’t really luck, the outcome is never good. Here are three of the things that I dread doing the most, but taking care of them anyway keeps me on the straight and narrow toward my goals.

  1. Balancing the Checkbook - Be honest, no one actually likes to balance their checkbook. This is one of the most boring and possibly confusing tasks involved with managing your money. Confusing if there’s a mistake somewhere in the addition or subtraction by either you or the bank(my experience has been that most mistakes by the bank - is in their favor). It is important however, to keep up with it to the penny!
  2. Creating the Budget - This actually sounds a whole lot worse than it is. The budget can lead to frustration or excitement, depending on how the income stacks up against the outflow. However, this is one of the most important things to do every month. It’s your game plan, and without it, your money has a mind of it’s own (it likes to disappear).
  3. Paying Bills - Sitting down to write checks, sealing envelopes, and mailing bills is just boring. Online billpay has become quite popular, and I can see why! I’m going to explore this option further in the near future. No matter how much money you have, this has to be done.

When the time comes to do these tasks, thoughts of procrastination usually enter my mind. Especially balancing the checkbook. I have to remind myself that each of these tasks are part of my plan. The only way to reach my goals, is to work my plan!
