Say NO to Debt and Stuffitis
The title of this post has become the newest slogan on my site. It was originally “Living the Switch from Debt to Prosperity”, which there’s nothing wrong with that. But I’ve come to think that the best way to get out of debt, and stay out, is by saying no to debt and stuffitis. You see, after paying off some debt, you start feeling the weight being lifted off your shoulders. The pressure isn’t near as great. That’s when you have to be careful, because it’s so easy let your old way of thinking creep back in.
Stuffitis, which simply means that you are addicted to accumulating stuff, leads to debt. So, in order to stay out of debt, you must avoid falling into the stuffitis trap. It’s very easy to always have a plan for what you’ll buy the next time you get paid. This is a bad place to be. It’s advisable to try and be content with what you have, and make it a goal to have money left over once your bills are paid. Even if it’s and extremely small amount, why not save it. Then you will never have to feel like you don’t have any money. If you did this every time you were paid, it would add up faster than you realize. It’s a great feeling to know you could afford to buy something if you wanted it, but making the decision to keep your money instead. It’s a very empowering thing.
So the biggest challenge for you and me, is to consistently say NO to debt and stuffitis. Always be content and in control. Never again feel like you have nothing.
